Tremayne Hall Newsletter - Summer 2009

The restored Tremayne Hall was reopened in October 2007 and after a slow start bookings are building up and we now have a wide variety of activities on offer. Our aim is to provide something to interest almost everyone!

Thanks to our beautiful floor we have many types of dancing, yoga, keep fit and Pilates. In the smaller rooms classes, seminars and meetings take place. There are now many social and commercial occasions too, including wedding celebrations, parties, funeral receptions, concerts, art and craft exhibitions as well as sales and coffee mornings. To find out more, we recommend that you go to our website www.tremaynehall.org.uk where a programme for the next four weeks is available. The various activities are illustrated and details of events past, present and future are available for all to see. Bookings can be made up to a year ahead by contacting the booking secretary, Pat Willmore on patwillmore@aol.com or by telephoning 01326 372168.

The website also gives you the history of the hall and a photo diary of the recent restoration. We welcome visitors and are happy to show you round if you let us know. The Archive Centre, which is an integral part of the hall, is open every Thursday afternoon throughout most of the year and this is an excellent day to drop in without an appointment.

Our efficient treasurer, Terrie Clark, is pleased to be able to announce that we have finally been able to pay the last of the bills for the restoration! An aim of the Management Committee is to maintain high standards in all aspects of running the community centre. Our charges are adjusted annually and we employ a cleaner who, with the help of a team of volunteers, keeps the property in good condition. Our lottery (MIFS - Maintenance and Improvements Fund Supporters) produces a steady income which is important for necessary work on the building.

We have been impressed with the care shown towards the Tremayne Hall by all our users and no matter how wild the party, it is always left neat and tidy (provided we give them time to clear up!) Despite being in the centre of the village we have been able to keep any local disruption to a minimum. This central position is a huge benefit to many who can simply walk to the hall, instead of getting in the car or asking for a lift. The Lunch club, Films and Bingo are just some of the entertainments on offer, each with their regular supporters. Exhibitions benefit from visitors being able to call in while shopping and the hall forms a good meeting place for those just dropping in for a coffee.

A fantastic team works hard to make all this happen and a recent rough calculation shows that with all the committees and volunteers, we now have around 100 people committed to running our lovely new community centre. We are always looking out for new helpers though and if you would like to get involved or have a particular interest or skill, we would be pleased to hear from you.

This is a tremendous facility for our village - we encourage everyone to make the most of it!
