Antiques Valuation and Auction of Promises

(27 April 2005)

Antiques Valuation and Auction of Promises in Tremayne Hall Community Centre

This was an event in two halves and proved to be one of the most successful so far.

We were lucky enough to have the services of Roger Tappin from Bonham’s Auction House, who provided an entertaining first half by discussing a number of items that had been brought in by our audience. Among the many interesting antiques was a valuable watercolour painting which had narrowly escaped being taken to the dump and a Victorian gadget which could entertain a circle of people by giving them electric shocks and making their hair stand on end.

After a glass of wine during the interval, the ‘promises’ part of the evening, also conducted by Roger, became hilarious and bids went to ridiculous heights so that we ended up with a profit of £1,000!

A great big thank you to all of you who volunteered your antiques and "promises" for this very successful event.
